Private Training in BJJ
While SHMA is well known for the quality of its group classes, some people prefer to increase their knowledge with private training. Private classes enable the instructor to teach the lessons in the order that will optimize learning and to adapt techniques to suit an individual’s strengths and weaknesses.
Each private lesson begins with a review of previously learned techniques, followed by the introduction of 2-3 new techniques. Once you fully understand the new techniques, the instructor will show you how to combine them with previously learned techniques in a series of drills. This process continues until you have mastered all the techniques in the appropriate level that you are training towards.
If you’re eager to learn Martial Arts with maximum efficiency, private training is for you!
Scheduling & Flexibility
Private classes offer maximum flexibility with training availability for early mornings, mid morning and afternoons. These can be scheduled weekdays or on the weekends… we will do our best to work in a time that suits with your schedule.
Linear Learning
The order in which you learn the techniques greatly affects the time it takes you to master the art. In private lessons, your instructor will present the techniques in a carefully pre-determined sequence that will most efficiently develop your reflexes and build your confidence.
Take yourself to the next level.
One of the best ways to reduce the amount of time it takes to reach the higher levels of Martial Arts is to set specific training/technical goals in each phase of the journey based on your strengths and weaknesses. Private training enables your instructor to help you assess your ability and develop a personalized plan to take you efficiently to the next level!
Personal Progress Goals
Due to the tempo of group instruction, it’s possible to miss important technical details during these classes. Furthermore, two weeks or more could pass before the class returns to the same technique and you have a chance to learn and improve your skills. With a private lesson, your personal instructor will pace the instruction according to your skills and needs, so you will never feel confused or inundated.
On the spot Feedback
In a group class, it’s basically impossible for the instructor to focus totally on one student at a time, so sometimes you rely on your training partners to assist you while learning the techniques. With private lessons, your instructor is with you guiding you through every technique, so they can give you ‘on the spot feedback’ for all of your Martial Art needs.
